Updating Actuals in Microsoft Projects

Hi can anyone tell me how to update actual work without modifying planned work? Also can i update actual work more than planned work? Whenever i update actual work more than planned, system is changing the value in planned work automatically.

Kiran you have to first baseline your project before the project starts. After baselining the project, the planned work (baseline work) will always be the same. As the project moves on you can update your actual work accordingly.
