An interesting situation has arisen where I work. I am a PM in a small shop and have responsibility to manage all IT projects. A project has been initiated by an end user without acceptance or approval of the CIO. Our IT staff has been asked not to participate in the project until it is formally approved. It is steaming down the track without input or participation of IT. Comments on dealing with this type of rogue project would be beneficial. I am torn on this topic - I have specific direct to not be involved or even comment on anything going on in the project but believe we are in for disaster if IT doesn't step in. Saving Changes...
One thing, I have fail to notice is coordination between Busness and IT personnel, since your only an observer, who is actually coordinating with business and implementing the same? And I also keen to know is there any specific SLDC process they are following since you have mentioned that they are not maintaining any documentation, it could be that they are following agile methodology. Thanks for the post Anand! Sorry to say, not much coordination is being done on this project. Don't see any SDLC processes being followed - might be missing it but I don't see any. No documented requirements. No documented meetings and decisions. No documented project schedule - timeline or anything that resembles. Word of mouth and a projected DB conversion schedule from the Vendor is all I have. I am told -- one person holds it all in their head! Not a good feeling for me or IT. Saving Changes...
