Dear Charles,
Regarding how is a deployment plan typically organized and what are the key components of a deployment plan... Like you mentioned, many folks view this as a summary and checklist of sorts as all of the deployment planning information and detail will be in the project plans. For a program in which you have a number of projects, many folks use a program deployment plan to provide a consolidated view of the program deployment effort (scope, schedule, budget, etc.) and checklists can be very helpful to minimize duplication of effort in terms of referring to project plan detail of the program projects. At a high level, organization and components related to deployment of the program can include such things as:
- Program Summary
- Program Scope
- Program Deployment Plan
- Schedule
- Critical Path
- Budget
- Risk Management
- Responsibilities
- Program Management Checklists
Good post. I hope we hear and learn from others. Cheers..!
