Hi All,

I have 3 projects running in my company. Two are profitable and one is running under loss. I would like to know how to bring profit this project or even break even. I have four resources working on. The reason for loss is due to wrong estimation.

Please prove that the estimation was wrong and go ahead with the reestimation.

Dear Sangeetha,

Regarding how to bring profit to the project or even break... If this project is for a client engagement, your options may be limited by what was sold and contractually agreed upon. However, is this project is an internal project, then you might be able to more easily correct the estimating errors, re-baseling the project, and determine whether or not the project can be profitably completed. Cheers.

An option to consider is to give the customer a barebones working model and then cost out the additional features separately.

What stage project is in?, If it is in the final stage, I think it is very difficult to convience customer for re-estimation. One way to cover up the loss would be propose change request in terms of technology and business.
