Hello everyone,

as a frequent reader of HBR essentials books, I'm just wondering how much examples and theories written in these collection could still fit in our business life.
In fact, most of these articles are older than 20 years old... so yes, it's great to read to enlarge our mind and business culture but is that still fitting in our business world?
Everything is changing so quickly that we consider a 5 years-old theory as obsolete... but in the other hand, HBR is still consider one of the key player in economic education...

Especially DICE framework and calculation is an easy tool to set and classify project with their chances of success, but is that still valid?

Thanks for your comments!

Old HBR articles, where management gurus published their idea's are still valid. Just take Demings view on quality management. Many "new" business buzzwords even build on those "old" ideas, but unfortunately often the roots where it is coming from is forgotten.
DICE framework is a tool to serve certain decisions with numbers, however to me it is not an approach to build a decision on solely.

I found the same issue with HBR when I was doing my masters thesis. Not having so many new articles and current management/leadership theories tells you more about the age of their editors than the quality of the magazine.
