It is possible to satisfy the needs of both but it will create an unfair environment so you need to have a proper system in place and ensure it is communicated to all and will be applicable to all be it increments or job security wise.

Hello Rami, Thanks for your reply here is the real challenge with transparency.

You have to align all people behind the business objectives. No matter you are managing the business or not that is the challenge when you are leading people. Is the same when you are project/program manager. You have to demonstrate to people that when they go for business objectives then they are achieving their individual objectives. I wrote an article in that sense that was published by the PMI: projectmanagement.com: https://www.projectmanagement.com/blog-pos...zational-change

It is definitely possible to satisfy the needs of both. As someone above said, for some people money motivation also provides security. Some difficulties that might occur is the difference in motivation. Those motivated by money will obviously want to work more to try to get that raise or promotion as opposed to those who already feel like they have that sense of security and are content at the level that they are. I agree with Sergio. The vision and business objectives of the organisation come first and personal objectives align to these objectives. Saving Changes...
You need to focus on each group separately. Anyone has his/her own needs and expect you to consider. It is a very important and hard thing to do. However, you may be able to find a resolution which covers both aspects. Saving Changes...

As per Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, it looks like if the employees lowest level needs have not been met they will make job decisions based on their salary or security. Like Rami mentioned above, it will be a real challenge to satisfy both needs. Saving Changes...
