The PMP certification is a way to distinguish yourself with recruiters and clients. It is something that will make you stand out.

Certification makes you stand out in the crowd but as was discussed before, does NOT guarantee you job offers, employment, promotions, etc. Corroborated with your work experience, expertise and personality may lead to a successful career, though.

I'm guessing you're located in India- take a look at the local chapters (http://www.pmi.org.in/chapters.india.asp)- might be helpful in connecting with people who have local/ regional level knowledge.

PMI has published data a few times about the increase in compensation for those who hold the PMP credential but that may reflect a North American reality. My experience as both a hiring manager and a job candidate in the Greater Toronto area is that it is viewed as either an asset which might help to differentiate you from someone not having it OR a minimum requirement for the role and as such wouldn't give additional compensation.

As Sromon says - check with your local Chapter and see if they have any empirical data.

My understanding is that if you are already working as a project manager, I think there is a good chance that PMP certification will boost your salary. Anyway PMP alone does not guarantee job offers, it all depends on your experience and expertise.
