How do you manage your social networks / LinkedIn?

I hope I’m posting this in correct section. I wasn’t a very active participant of any social networking sites(one area I must improve), but since I started to explore new career opportunities, I’m checking LinkedIn frequently these days.
I hail from video games industry, with 15+ years of experience in production, project management, building creative team from ground up and establishing new departments/vertices, but most of the content, like job & network suggestion in my LinkedIn feed are irrelevant to my interest/skills/career path.
Hence seeking suggestions form fellow PMI members.
1) I have roughly 900 connections, with majority from project management and game industries contact. But have approx 30% from other domain which is not even remotely related to me, Is it ideal to go ahead and remove contacts which are not from area of my interests?
2) Many people broadcast the number of connections they have and brag about high numbers such as 25k or 35k connection. Is quantity matter in LinkedIn?
3) If I found someone very good and I can learn something from them I send a connection request. If they are highly experienced and reputed, I observed they don’t accept the connection request. Shall I apply the same principle and prune contacts who might have added me seeking for Job opportunities, first time job seekers, connection with a less experience in the industry (let’s say below 3yrs of exp).
4) Any other recommendations to improve my social networking skills?
Edit: 5) random HR/hiring consultants- I have lots in my connection list, shall I prune the one which are not established or reputed, for example one man hiring consultant who like and comment on random posts.
6) people who post random things and keeping no uniqueness between Facebook and LinkedIn ?
