Delegation usually used with responsibilities, duties and powers. Agreed with Rami PM can 't everything himself so he delegates some of his responsibility to some of his team. This may be to share responsiblity or may be train the team member as part of grooming him Saving Changes...
Delegation when done correctly empowers and develops staff. It is not just about passing the buck on those tasks which you don't want to do.
The benefit to a PM is first in developing team members, optimizing resource utilization and then freeing up their time or those of their senior team members to focus on higher value work.
Delegation covers 1. Authority 2. Responsibility & 3. Accountability. - It is a key concept in leadership management. I personally has a view that this delegation act should instil positive growth to the essential element of project management in optimisation of resource and eventually support specific project goals & objectives which should aligned with organisational strategy & business value.
For achieving delegation, a competent project manager has to work in a system and has to perform following steps : -
Assignment of tasks and duties
Granting of authority
Creating responsibility and accountability
Delegation shall help substantially built-up the success rate of a project if delegation system is well in-placed BUT I have seen few specific failure in construction project which is due to "premature" delegation for specific reason such as cronyism. The process of delegation should be intact & transparent to promote integrity & high value corporate culture.

The educational aspect of delegation is the fact that you are providing an opportunity for someone else to develop new skills. Saving Changes...

It's also a good way to help other people develop their skills because they can have experience of doing new things while you are able to supervise. Saving Changes...
I think somebody should come up with a way to breed a very large shrimp. That way, you could ride him, then, after you camped at night, you could eat him. How about it, science?
