My advice to you to look the exam result and see you knowldge gap and if you think that a little more effort if you put in, you can clear the exam, must do it. Version 6 require little more preparing and hard work as compare to version 5. Many new things are there. Now choice is with you

I believe you must try one more time with V5 However you have good knowledge about it.
I would recommend to read Rita's book and Andy

wish for you great success

It's disheartening but now you have more experience of exam too. The result you got is the base line from where you need to start.Like Mansoor mentioned it gives you the picture of your weak areas, concentrate on them.
26th March is a long way, you might loose interest in studying. Just gather yourself, build on the experience of your previous exam, focus on weak areas and go for it.

Goodluck.

Definitely stick to version 5 since you have already spent the time studying that version of the exam.

Stéphane,

Analyse why you fail? a few knowledge?

Did your make simulation exam prior to the test? was your score above 80 or 85%? Do more simulation exam.

Check there discussion on passing the PMP exam some other nice suggestions.

No worries. Don't let it set you back. Just think of it this way, you have a real live practice under your belt and know exactly what to expect. That will take a lot of stress off your shoulders. I failed my first time also. I did not respect the time as much as I should have.

Mix of good suggestions. Determine weak areas, both from results and feeling. Focus there with 'touchpoints' on your strong areas. Then, only you can decide. If you were 'close', then schedule a month or so out, do above, and go in there and rock it!

Sorry to hear that but don't get discouraged, and plan your retake on the Fifth Edition to avoid having to unlearn a bunch of nomenclature and concepts which changed through the transition.

In case you haven't done so already, use PMI's new exam analysis report for your first attempt to identify the specific tasks within the domains which you were below target on. That will definitely help you focus your efforts.

Good luck!

Definitely go with version 5th because you already spend time . There is some gap of knowledge level , Improve it by referring PMI 6th version . It help you to broaden your knowledge and fill gap. then refer version 5 and attempt exam

Stéphane,

Despite feeling sad about the luck is on your side, I would recommend you sit-back and appreciate the exam analysis report that could be found in CCRS. Seriously analyse the exam result, the PMP exam result is a true reflection of your real life project management experience and knowledge gap in accordance to PMBOK Guide. That's how I see it. Focus on the domain performance that relates the tasks that you supposed to perform to pass the exam. The overall performance chart shall determine the level of effort that you will require to pass the exam.

Comparing the PMBOK 5th & 6th Edition, I would recommend you should take up 2nd attempt based on 5th Edition for reason the exam analysis by CCRS is an invaluable guide and demonstrated where your project management knowledge & expertise stands. However the primarily deciding factor shall rest on the your overall performance result in first exam. Are you at "NEEDS IMPROVEMENT" OR "BELOW TARGET" and most importantly your performance breakdown for each domain proportion. The Key domain especially. Try to search for the topic in this platform and you shall be fine. Good luck.

Perhaps I will write something obvious but here my recommendations: 1-remember that you must answer what the PMI expect as an answer not what you do in your real life in that situation. 2-all questions are situational questions then studying the PMBOK GUide has no sense. You have to understand it, not studying it. 4-make tons of questions (4-5 the number of questions into the exam). When you get 75%-90% of right answers systematically then you are ready. You can use the same questions more than one time because you will see that most of the times your answer is not the same. 5-day before the exam and day of the exam do nothing related to the exam except the exam itself. 6-do not spend much time thinking about an answer. Mark the question and go next.
