Ergonomic Consideration is getting more emphasized, Do you consider it a constrain on a project? Dependency? or part of Lean philosophy to reduce waste?

With work spaces becoming more open and collaborative, anything that assists people to work happier and healthier would be an opportunity or benefit.

I would not consider ergonomics consideration to be constraint or dependency.
Ergonomics is designing work tasks to fit the worker, keeping in mind the capabilities and limitations of the human body. It seeks to identify and eliminate any constraint to maximum work capacity, and lessen worker fatigue while improving process efficiency and thus productivity.

I am not seeing it as a constraint. Maybe an assumption. But ergonomic considerations are not really pat of one project. They should be enterprise wide.

I also see it as the first level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs - Physiological .

Thanks for all your input, I agree with all of you it even help reduce waste in process lead time but the problem we are still facing with old facilities and few old employers whom still can't get it or they are not willing to spend money to make those changes.

Riyadh -

It could be both a requirement for a customer product as well as a standard (or even regulation depending on the jurisdiction) for team members. For the latter, unless we are in a project-oriented (to use the new Sixth Edition terminology) context, I'd expect functional managers to fit the bill for such requirements for their staff...

Hi Kiron,
I liked that "Functional Managers to fit the bill" Agreed even in Lean Management considering Ergonomic is integrated with reducing the waste of motion.
