I am about to take a person through all the steps of acquiring a PMP certification. This is based on my own experience.
I am starting with MS Project based plan. This will be followed by all the steps and tasks that i think will be useful in achieving the certification. I expect this to be a 6 months exercise at the maximum.
Once we are succesfull in the acquisition, then i will rationalize the plan to a 4 month exercise. Saving Changes...
I did a project plan (Gantt chart) for my PMP. I would love to say I followed it, but it ended up off track. I still passed though. It would be good to hear how you go :-) Saving Changes...

Great Idea...I would make the end product flexible enough to allow for those who need more than (4) months to complete the project. (Longer class, additional study, ect) Would like to see the end result! Good luck. Saving Changes...

I studied in three months and passed in the 1st attempt. I based on Rita's book, with reference to PMBOK, because Rita's book made me understand PMP concepts easier than PMBOK. Hope that my experience helps you :) Saving Changes...
Wishing you all the best in executing your plan. I felt that 3 to 4 months preparation for working group is a good length to write a PMP exam. With more detailed plan drawn up & commitment, the preparation time span could go shorter.
Ehsan,
I think 3 to 4 months cold be good, it all depend on your available time.
You can find some hints in previous discussions here. Saving Changes...
I would suggest to go by hours and not days. There may be people who have more hours available per day to study and there will be some who can dedicate just one hour per day.
