Tracking progress in MS Project

We're trying to use the Work and Baseline Work fields to track progress on tasks in our portfolio. We're using a single MS Project file, with one task for each project. For some reason, the Baseline Work hours aggregated at the monthly level do not match the detail. For example, if you look at the Resource Usage view, expose the Baseline Work field and "add up" the BW hours for each task, that total does not match the total at the Resource level for that month.

This is a very abstract problem to tackle via email, but any suggestions would be much appreciated.

My practice is to use Work to track my project progress. Baseline would be my reference whether it meets my plan or not. I think that's why your total at the resource level does not match because that level refers to Work, not BW.

Maybe others can also help.

Have you made changes to WORK and possibly forgot to save a new baseline?

Is there a process whereby what is changed in a document can be downloaded in a spreadsheet in order to keep a copy of what was changed and by whom?

After taking a full baseline, the baseline data in the Task and Resource views should "add up" just fine. However, if you were to alter any baseline data, add new baseline information, delete any, etc in the Task view, keep in mind that the baseline totals in the Resource views do not change (unless you totally re-baselined). Provide a little more detail on how you think you got to this point. Many of us should be able to help.
