What are the key points to mention in a letter while asking help for the project funding?

You need to know about people you are trying to convince. To do that you can use a selling method named "Solution Selling" or "SPIN Selling". But generally speaking, people that will read the letter must feel that they will be more rich with the project (in fact, not with the project, with the result) than without it, where rich does not means more money only. People will put money if they perceive something valuable. Put focus on value generation, not in actions. For example, instead of writting "expand the assembly line capacity" is better to write "take advantage of current and future demand"

Why is the project ?
What are the benefit of the project for the community? I suspect if you ask for founding it might have community benefits.
Who is going to manage the project? specially if it reinforce or lower the risk.
Who else is already founding the project?
When would it be complete?
