I applied for the PMP examination last week and received my eligibility to pay for the exam yesterday. I payed for the exam and received an email stating "You may now contact Prometric to schedule your Project Management Professional (PMP) credential examination."

How long before I will know if I will be selected for an audit, or does this mean that I am not being audited and I may take the exam when I desire?

Thank you for your time and assistance. I greatly appreciate it.

From what I understand, only a percentage of people sitting for the PMP exam are audited, usually after they've taken it. If they accepted your application you should be good to go to take the exam.

Josh is right, only a percentage is audited so you can go ahead and book your exam (if you got your notification you were not selected for audit). However, PMI can audit your application even years down the road, usually if they receive a complaint or such, so keep any supporting documentation for at least couple of years.

I only know about two of my colleagues getting audited by PMI. That was almost immediately after they got certified as PMP.

It's been some years now since I filled mine, but as far as I remember that section was more in terms of:
- created Project Communication Plan
- contributed with effort and duration estimates to Project Schedule
- provided roles, responsibilities and skills descriptions for theProject Resources Plan

The deliverable is usually a document or something tangible.

Hope it helps.
