Project deadlines are important but project quality is also equally important. Delivering a quality project meeting deadline is a challenge. I havd observed that the goal is achieved by compromising between the two. I would like to know your thoughts and ideas on this issue. Saving Changes...

follow the 5 constraints. scope, schedule, cost, risk, quality(don't miss the last one!). Carve the scope so quality is also taken in schedule. Compromising on quality will get more production bugs(risk) and hence the cost and customer satisfaction. Saving Changes...
Quality always gets the top priority apart from safety in construction work as mentioned by Rami.
But if you are having this challenge quite often, maybe you need to look in to the way you are estimating effort required or the way you are scheduling things (root cause of issue), are your deadlines even realistic.... Saving Changes...

Project quality should always come first. Meeting a deadline with inferior results makes no sense. I have seen this practice in action. Teams report that they have completed all their work and move on to their next task. What happens next is an emergency fix to correct the sloppy work turned in.They make all kind of excuses.
Moral to the story is trust no one until you see a respectable track record on deliverables. Saving Changes...
