One of the five Project Management Process Groups required for any project is Executing Process Group. Do you agree that it is "the challenge to make the project to reache its results" ?

If you did not make the initiation and planning sure the Execution will be a challenge or a surprise.

I would like to offer a somewhat personal perspective to my job. The Project Processes are a methodical breakdown of the areas of concentration and structure for how and why we perform our "Magic" on a Project, However-
From purely personal perspective, As a PM of Project we are "Executing" from the minute we step foot on the Project (in my case 5am upon mobilization of forces) to the minute we depart the Project Offices (in my case headed to the gym). Our "Execution" takes on many forms during the day: Playing HR advisor, Safety Coach and Mentor, Managing staff and controlling various planning activities, interacting with Stakeholders, negotiating Procurement deals, offering technical advice and strategies to the technical team, Inspecting field execution and QC procedures, etc.
In many ways, the actual production at the site is just the results of many hours conducting the orchestra that is our Team..We are always Executing PM skills iteratively and continuously...
This is just my perspective from the trenches...

One thing are the phases of the project, other, completely different, the phases of the product or service. Even other the life cycle of the PM. Yes the PM starts "executing" from the minute we steps in the project.
He plans and monitors the execution of the delivers to produce the project product/service.
The execution is where the implementation plan is performed, and yes when things happen. The PM monitor and report the project progress,follows-up the tasks, issues and risks.

Not at all. I can justify why because I have researched it along all my professional life. But instead of me just take a look to the PMP Certfication Content Outline document. You will find there (I do not remember the page but I think is page 3) the distribution of percentage by domain. That will help you about the amount of effort for each domain.
Sergio,

Thank you for your comment.

Elizeu -

Don't confuse the process groups with phases. You could be performing some of the processes from the Executing group in any phase of a project's life.

As far as the challenge goes, I would agree that when the team is actually delivering the scope of a project and transitioning those deliverables, the rubber hits the road. Till then, it's theory!
