I am sure that they do.
It's important to keep everyone's spirits up so that they be productive.
They have to feel that the project is making headway and that they get continuous feedback on how they are doing.

Emotions play a vital role in the choices we make and actions we take. Emotions whether positive or negative not only effects individual performance but also cast effect on the team you are working with.

They do big time and thats why emotional intelegence is one of the skills a PM should have. Most Human beings in general are emotional. Emotions can affect the whole team and project.
