I saw the email today about reaching a new milestone in PMI membership. I wonder if the new member knows? I would be interested in congratulating that person.

Maybe confetti fell from (or is it on, or in) the screen when they joined! Probably not, of course, but maybe an idea for the 1M member :)

Guys - correction alert

The 500,000th members joined probably 7 years ago. Today we are on member number 2.3 M or even higher.

What PMI is celebrating is that --- when they made the announcement --- they have 500,000 active members and they are celebrating with video testimonials of members.

Now, looking at the glass half full - this is a good number.
Looking at the half empty part - this is really bad. Why:

1. Because retention is really bad - considering that more than 2 M joined,. only 0.5 M are active. We realize some are dead some retired --- but not 75% )+/-)

2. The number of active certificate holders is close to 900,000 - so what that mean is possibly more than half of the certificate holders did not maintain their membership.

3. Chapter membership is worst

So no doubt, 500,000 members is huge and will keep PMI on top in term of size. Yet, the question of value remain. I am one of those who do not see value (FORM ME) so I dropped my membership and my certifications. There is still a lot of value for many people, which is good.

I honestly believe the PMI board should really take a close look and find out why certificate holders do not see value in maintaining their membership.

Would you be willing to share with us your PMI number? No need for the exact number just and two or three digits on the left --- assuming your number should look like 2,abc,xyz --- maybe share the "a" digit only.

If you will give me some amount of money for them then I am (just in case the amount of money motivates to me).
