Agile methodology in Electrical Contractor's business

I like to know your thoughts and ideas about Application of Agile Methodology in electrical contractor's business.

First of all, take into account that Agile is not a method/methodology, is not software related only, did not start with the Manifesto. With that said, if you are talking about to apply some Agile based methods in the Electrical Domain I have used DSDM in several initiatives inside one of the biggest electrical companies in the world. The point is you have to make an impact analysis to understand if the organization is ready at all levels to use it. Each thing you introduce into an organization will impact the organization as a whole. Each thing you introduce into an organization must be because a need to solve a problem is in place. All these stuff belongs to business analysis. First (before Sergio says it :-) ), let's not worry about agile methodologies. Those are specific to a domain and most are focused on information technology products & projects.

Agile principles and values can be embraced and applied to ANY type of project. Specific practices may or may not be usable.

For example, nothing prevents you from delivering business value early and regularly, tackling risky elements of scope earlier, engaging the customer frequently to ensure you aren't delivering the wrong stuff and so on.

There is no Agile Methodology for a contracting business. Agility, flexibility, being responsive to change are applicable everywhere - projects and business
