I must convince a client that the method they want to use for searching and selecting on their site is akward. Does anyone know of any sites (beside search engine) that have a really good search and select method? Most of this "Web application" we are creating is searching and selecting so I need some good ideas. Any response would be appreaciated. Saving Changes...
I can try to help answer by pointing you to a collection of bad examples. www.websitesthatsuck.com is a site dedicated to building better websites by pointing out how many people have failed either by being stupid or by trying to be too cute or smart. I last read it several months ago when they had a topic of "mystery Meat Navigation" which is related to your point. The site is actually very professional and intelligent as it shows what NOT to do on a website. Perhaps, showing your client that a similar spproach earned another website the dubious distinction of a "web site that csucks" may be enough to convince them to listen to you.
