Linked In is a great tool for building your personal brand. What tips and approaches have others taken to use this community (ProjectManagement.com) to build up their personal brand?

Blogging actively & answering any discussion thread which I believe I can contribute to.

Outside of projectmanagement.com, I've been blogging since 2009, was a community moderator for PMI's LinkedIn discussion group, and have presented frequently virtually and in person at PM and industry-focused conferences.

Thanks for sharing Kiron. I too have started to go down this path and am in the process of drafting a number of articles to contribute to this community. As far as speaking engagements go, it would be great to know how I can break into this type of activity. Face time is the best time in my opinion. How have you gone about that?

I got started by presenting within my own company and with my local PMI chapter, both of which were "safe" pilots of new material. From there, I moved up to larger conferences, corporate workshops and other chapters.

By maintaining a commensurate level of focus on writing, contributing in online communities (here & LinkedIn) and speaking, visibility and brand get a compound interest benefit!

I concur with Kiron on this.
I think asking questions, participating in discussion threads, writing blogs, white papers and polls are the various ways to contribute to this community.

There are also ideas of building a brand around specific content that you are interested in. For example contributing templates, articles, etc. related to key interest(s).
