Hi everybody....I would like to know how to claim incentive/bonus from the client for a project which was completed about 8 months before the approved schedule.

This is an open question , it depends on what kind of agreement/ engagement signed with client

Refer SOW/ Agreement there should be clause mentioned with details if it is incentive based engagement

The contract is on lumpsum basis and there is no provision for incentive.
What best can be done in this situation to claim for an incentive?

There's not much you can do. That was the agreement. If it was known that the project would come in early, then the person responsible for quoting was not ethical in their schedule estimates. If it was not known that the project would come in 8 months early, then they seriously overestimated or did not understand the constraints and don't deserve an incentive. Unless of course it was part of the contract agreement to receive an incentive if the project was completed early.

Agree with Sante comments. Nothing much can be done many be negotiate with client. Legally no option.

Totally agree with Sante as 8 months is a lot but even if it is 1 month only, you need to check your contract with the client.

You can't do anything. For future Projects, mention incentive clause in Terms & Conditions/Purchase Order. Good Luck!

Agree with the above responses. It's unfortunate but possibly can work something out with the client in good faith. Next contract, look to ensure some stipulation is included. Good luck.

While you can't go back to the client to get an incentive, it is worth doing some root cause analysis as to the reason for the excessive schedule variance and share lessons learned including considering FPIF as an alternative to what looks like a pure FP contract.

If it is not in the contract, you can’t claim it.
You have save months of cost on your project management, that is the bonus!

Like Kiron mention you have to dig to understand why there was so much variance in your schedule.

If you can reproduce the performance, add an incentive in your futur contract.
