I need some recommendations on the best PMO software packages for the financial industry? My company is currently looking into Primavera and eProject. Has anyone used any other tools that are suitable to the financial industry - we are interested in Resource Managment (actual time spent vs. time allocted), Project Planning, Reporting, Dashboard View and workflow management.

I know thatsome of these tools are more expensive than others. SAP has a financial module and there are couple other prominent tools available. First, the new tool should harmonize with your existing IT infrastructure and applications in place. This may be too late...I have implemented Primavera 2.0, eProject PPM6, and PlanView 7.4 at various places I have worked. I have also seen Lawson (not sure what version) used for resource management. From what I saw of Lawson it was not effective (could have been how it was implemented too). The other three all work well. Primavera team Play I have heard does all this but for a fairly hefty price. eProject is easy to navigate and adopt but is not very robust in resource and workflow management (YET - I believe this product will mature into a major player) whereas PlanView does this well today, in my opinion.
The IT infrastructure is very important and could limit your options. eProject being a SaaS removes that limitation (assuming you have web access).
In addition to infrastructure your PM maturity will impact adoption. If your processes are not being followed or are not sound, implementing a software solution will do you no good. Saving Changes...
