How do you become Subject Matter Expert and earn the badge ?

Good question Urban. I think PMI would be the best to answer this. I am sure they have certain criteria for which they follow to nominate personnel as SMEs.

It would be interesting to see what they say.

I researched this before. This is what I found on a question from 2 years ago (https://www.projectmanagement.com/discussi...-the-SME-Badge- ):

The SME badge is actually a very old badge that was issued when the site was initially launched. It was given to members who were paid contributors.

There are a number of badges like Town Crier, Socialite, Party animal etc which have been discontinued, probably SME is also one of them. Though I have seen people like Mark Mullaly, Andy Jordan and few others who have SME badge.

There are a few legacy badges in the mix. Some long-time members may have them (maybe from before it became pm.com), but new members may not (look not to be) eligible.
