In one day you see your influence number increased by one and the very next day you see it becomes minus one if you contribute with less replies, answers, and did not ask a question.
I would like to know how to control this fluctuation on influence number? Saving Changes...
That's really a tricky question.
I assume that adding few contacts, replying to a couple of questions and writing one odd comment/ review is sufficient to maintain. But I guess the site doesn't update the score everyday as sometimes I don't do any activity for a couple of days and the score remains the same.
Moreover, I think it has something to do with, how high your score is. The higher you are, more effort is required to sustain it, but that's just my feeling.
Number of certifications also has an impact in maintaining a base level score without much of activity.
Najam, well it looks like more than what you mentioned (( one comment, replying to couple questions)) and I don't see the number of certifications impact the influence, you might have many but don't contribute! Saving Changes...

Many people asked thsi questions before including myself and as far as I understood, There is a certain algorithim that evaluates this no based on many factors of which of course contributions are a vital part of but not sure how this algorithim works exactly. Saving Changes...
Riyadh, this website does state that as your influence gets higher, it's harder for the numbers to move up, or something along those lines. Saving Changes...

It fluctuates in line with the community as a whole. This is part of a response I received a while back. If you are active, your influence will reflect.
"Influence is calculated based on over a hundred different factors. The data is compiled and processed and the results are then run against algorithms and plotted on a 100 point scale. Although it's not strictly a competition it is a fixed 1-100 scale so the actions of others and their influence affect your influence too."

Very interesting.
A lot of thought has gone into the design of gamification of participation on this site. I would be really interested to read a history on the thought processes that led to where we are today.
