Hi, is there a jobs discussion area here? I need some advice from seasoned Project Mgr's or Business Analysts. The thrust of the question is how to form a career or next possible job from where I am at and what possibilities are out there?

I have broad experience, having managed some high tech products (CD-ROM databases) and managed a small IT group. I have background in web design and development (moderate technical depth). Currently, I help manage content for a very large employee portal (made in-house).

I have used rough proj mgt methods. A bit of MS Project. Visio, etc.

I work well with people and customers. I like conceptual work and finding a proposed solution, but not necessarily implementing it in detail.

What types of opportunities should I consider? I am looking at some Level 3 Business Analyst jobs (out of a scale of 1 to 5) and maybe Proj Mgt jobs.

Any advice is appreciated.

I can recollect some guys looking for potential applicants in these forums itself. If you go through the threads, you'll get their information. Sounds like, you can go for a project management lead/manager/analyst role with your background. Where do your interests lie?

Hi,

The only concern I have is that I can see gaps in what I have been exposed to. Like, I have managed some projects, but did not have budget authority. So, I am looking for positions where I can still learn. I have experience spread throughout maybe 7 to 10 years of work applicable to projects, but how many years should I state if there were gaps in responsibilities and/or I have not been exposed to some aspects of Business Analysis and Project Management? What is a good way to handle that on my resume and with potential employers?

Highlight your strong points. And, in the discussion table mention about your short comings in a positive way. Give your best shot!
