Hi there, PM professionals and experts,
help pls... i need inputs as to what dissertation topic i may opted to for my (PHD) graduate studies. Apparently, the topic i like most would be project management and all about it that we need to research further even if needs experiment, further analysis, statistics, etc that may lead to better understanding of the topic.
Hi Joefil, well your previous post about the usefulness of lack thereof with KPI's in project management may be a good topic. You will need something really specific/unique of course.

Oh ok.. Well a very good topic to do would be Agile in construction. There has been a lot of discussion here lately that Agile cannot be used effectively to manage construction projects, especially at the building level. It nay be a case of Agile for Agile sake as some have suggested, but there is a consensus that Agile can be used in this industry, but where exactly, and how? Predictive lifecycles don't lend themselves well with Agile, so I guess the topic could be: can Agile principles be used in the construction industry, will this increase value, and is there increased risk using adaptive lifecycles when certain building practices require locked in processes, regulations, requirements are known upfront, and change is very unlikely.

Agile can be used in design phase conveniently. Lean can be adopted during execution by reduction of waste and an increase in efficiency. Frequent reviews can come in handy during execution. Agile principles and practices risk and complexity in construction project execution.

There's always a literature review, and the purpose is to do a thorough analysis of the literature, analyze conflicting viewpoints, and identify gaps in the literature that may support your research topic.

I'm not sure I understand the question? A Lit Review is undertaken by the person writing the dissertation. The Lit Review will be all the books, articles, journals, whitepapers etc that you source in order to analyze for your Lit Review. Now if you find a similar dissertation on KPI's for example, you might use their Lit Review for citations in your own dissertation and then include it in your Reference section. Saving Changes...
