Hello dear Members,
I am looking for best practices organizing Project Management awards for the first time in our country. If you have ever organized any similar awards or competitions in your local chapters, I'd appreciate if you share with me any recommendations, advice you have. I am looking for information what were the biggest challenges for you, what worked well or requires improvements.
Thanks in advance for your knowledge and experience sharing!
Hi Edita, usually the chapter organize rewards for new PMP just after passing the exam they would have a party and announcement of new PMP and provide them with a badge printed with name and chapter logo. So I guess you can do similar to that with some more award of recognition.

Hello Riyadh, definitely this is a good practice :) However, our local chapter is looking for organizing some awards in our country level: e.g. best project of the year, the most successful project manager of the year, etc.
Thanks for sharing your experience!

They could set up a special reward for the project of the year registered with the chapter and the reward shouldn't be very expensive it is more of recognition and announcement in one of the chapter's functions. a piece of glass with chapter logo and project name and PM name for the year would be nice to put on the table or wall, even they can print few caps and distribute it which again wont cost much. Hello Edita.
I have not been a part of any Project Management award ceremony, but i have been a part of Academic Awards and we invited all regional Degree Awarding institutions, Skill development organizations to submit their best nominations and individual projects as well, which would be further submitted to the competent committee compromising of several professionals from various fields.
The committee of professionals made sure if the projects, professionals and their pertaining departments and their working was as per our already defined criteria(clarified in Award ceremony Planning).
Biggest Challenges were to :-
(1) Convince organizations regarding benefits of the said ceremony.
(2) Submission of nominees within our provided timeline(as our Committee had to filter them out as well).
3) To make sure that participants attended the ceremony without any constraints
(accommodation, travelling, financial constraints)
