any comments/opinions on primavera/vision/ any others? we really need flexibility for project tracking.

There are hundreds of tools available now. Primavera was a reasonably good tool when i was using it last year.

Primavera is a top-notch product, but expensive. Checkout Primavera's Suretrak product that competes head with MS Project. Suretrak costs around $500 USD.

Yes, cost was the main reason; we didn't consider it for a forward engineering project.

One not already listed is PPM6 (www.eproject.com) which my team is presently using. Features dashboard, timesheeting, resource/capacity planning, and executive views. Available as a hosted solution accessed via browser, but you also have the option of hosting it yourself.
