I usually discourage it because there are so many personal factors that come into play with social media that can muddy the waters when it comes to one's job role. I am refering to thing like Facebook etc. But occasionally a twitter handle has been used fpr project tweets, that is ok as there is a degree of control over the content visible to the organization.

How are we defining Social Media?
Organizations are increasingly implementing tools internally, like Facebook for work, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Trello, HipChat, etc. to increase the collaborative, centralized, and community effect provided to the project, team, and leadership.

George -

I'm with Andrew on this one.

Internal social networks are a good way to establish your brand, connect with PMs in other parts of the organization, and celebrate team wins.

External social networks should be used solely for personal purposes (aside from posting about jobs or recognizing a company-level achievement) - in most cases, you wouldn't want to be posting about internal projects on those unless it was for a highly externally visible project and even then, the posts would likely be channeled through your organization's official communications/media relations group.

I would dear to define something that is so defined all over the web, I would just reference one those...

http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/social-media

Social media is the collective of online communications channels dedicated to community-based input, interaction, content-sharing and collaboration.

Also, this has become one of my main topics, because I think it has positive and negative sides... Most are just looking at the positive, nevertheless avoiding the usage of social media is lethal for project management.

Many PMs such as (Elizabeth Harrin) have wrote about generalities, yet I want to create a more general discussion that would see both sides of the coin (if they are two sides indeed)
