Are you a member of the PMI Chicagoland Chapter as I'm sure they have plenty of volunteer opportunities?
You should also look at PMI's VRMS if you'd be interested in some remote/virtual volunteering opportunities (https://vrms.pmi.org/).

Hi Daniel, the best option is to contact your local PMI Chapter to see what opportunities they have for you to assist, and to engage this community.
