There is a cleanup being done in the template.

Seems template related to construction are being removed, at the same time template related to naming in coding are kept.

Make some clean up in the template seem a good Idea. Are the template being remove the right one.

First thing I would like to see is the date the template was posted.

Should template be remove? by industry?

I am personally not aware of this, but if they are looking to clean up templates, I would make the following recommendations to the site admins:

1. Do not purge the templates. Archive them, instead, to a low-traffic server. This way these templates are still available.
2. The criteria for purging should include overall rating as a parameter only. Industry, number of downloads, number of ratings are all misleading in the scenario of niche processes or industries.
3. Maintain a special page that announces which templates are queued up for purging in the following month. This will allow members to at least obtain a last-minute copy for their own storage .
Karan,

Good set of suggestions

All-
I agree with Mayte, most of the Construction related templates were extremely juvenile in structure. I am surprised Vincent was even looking in those files!
I have some constructive criticism and a suggestion. We all know that a Project Management Plan is required for every Project- and most of us generate these in-depth docs- so why do we not have a "sanitized' version of an actual Plan (with headings for all the subsidiary plans) in our PM.Com library???
Why don;t w have cleaned up versions of the subsidiary plans in there as templates?
Why don't we have access to sanitized versions of "lessons learned"?

This web site could be so much more useful than in this current form.

Karan, I agree with your assessment of following the ISO (9014?) guidance for Doc Controls----However, I wish I had seen something worth saving there....

From the trenches...

Mark,

Many templates regardless of industry are limited and some clearly out of date.

I prefer having templates in all industry (even basic one than none)

Everyone, we know some of the templates are woefully inadequate, especially with regard to construction. Can SME's in the building and construction industry please help out the community here by creating templates, articles and discussions about this very important industry? We all know the problem. Let's find a solution.

If there isn't a good template related to construction, anyone putting their hand up to create one?
Sante,

Good suggestion for Construction, valid for most industry. The only that is well represented is IT, some limited or simple that could inspire other to improve on them.

Perhaps another suggestion would be to look at the search function too? I find it difficult to find what I am looking for sometimes.

How do you search for templates that are geared towards the construction industry?
