Recently passed my PMP exam yesterday with all ABOVE TARGET
Lorenzo RuedaArch.,Project Manager| Design Coordinates Inc.Calamba City, Laguna, Philippines
March, 15 2018 was my scheduled exam here in the Philippines.
I started studying last September 2017 starting wth the PMBOk 5th ed. We have some group reviews during saturdays until November 2017 with the help of RMM (Rita Mulcahy) and Headfirst labs. I also used some materials from Cornelius which help me a lot.
I answered every exercise in the book which I believed help me a lot. I answered every exercise and test in the book which help me understand how to apply the processes in real situation which I did to my current Project which is truly effective.
The following was also the list of mock exams I answered to fill the knowledge gaps (this is not ranked because all of them helped me a lot):
- Rita Mulcahy tests after each chapter - Headfirst labs Test - Cornelius Free mock exam( just need to registe and a very good situational questions)) - Oliver Lehman free exams ( My highest in the free mock exam was 68%) - Exam Central (just need to register and a good exercise for the brain) - Design Coordinates Mock exam ( this is an internal mock exam which also gathered different exams online)
On the month of February 2018, I attended the 35hrs exam course and I already planned to take the exam a month later. I took my leave for 2 weeks and focused on my studying.
The following are also study tips that helped me focus better:
- I uninstalled my social media - Aim high - I limit myself to new information especially the entertainment part and focused on the news more by reading newspapers. - I did not give in to temptation by buying and playing famous games ( just played woodblocks to cool down my brain) - I read every free time - I prevent myself from watching Netlfix specially Black Mirror ( specifically this show!) - Lock yourself in the room while studying and listen to classical music - Run and exercise to digest what you read - Use technology ( youtube, internet and apps). - Read twice or thrice the PMBOK and Rita - If it helps you to write what you read, do it. - Apply to real world what you read - Finally, Pray that you get the right questions that you studied..
I wanted to be number 1 on my exam and during the inspection before entering the exam room, the facilitator informed me that my cubicle number is 1. There were around 20 cubicles and its randomly picked.. coincidence?!
I hope for those who are reading will also help you in your exam. Just remember to focus and do your best. Prayers really helps! You will be more relaxed after this and confident before entering the exam room.
I would also like to thank the following for their support who help me achieve this goal:
- God ( who is guiding me always) - Family ( who is always supporting) - My Team ( who took responsibility in work while im studying) - Friends ( who always bring boost my morale) - My Boss ( who gave me opportunity) - Design Coordinates Inc. ( who gave me experience and learnings)
Good on you Lorenzo and welcome to the PMP club :-) Saving Changes...
