The outcome should increase clarity across the whole organization of which projects are strategic, priority, importance, impact... there could be an endless list of parameters, but I would like to know something that has worked for you.

It is a given that the projects must be embedded within organization's mission/vision.

These are very organization & governance committee/stakeholder specific. The metrics which are meaningful to a public sector organization may not be relevant in a for profit company.

ROI, realized benefits, cash flow impact, degree of strategic alignment, portfolio classification, level of risk, complexity are all examples of useful information when reviewing portfolio content.

Eduard,

The list provided by Kiron is good. I like to have the standard KPI also.

These are good metrics from Kiron, and there are many more. It is organization-specific.
