With more and more projects going Agile, is it only a matter of time before there are more PMI-ACP certified individuals in the same calendar year than the PMP?

Agile was designed with technical projects in mind. Within the tech industry, it's certainly possible that we see Agile take over, and Waterfall go to the wayside. Outside the tech industry, I'm not so sure. "Fail Fast" doesn't work for construction, and iterations in marketing can drive away customers that would have been retained with a more finalized, feature-ready marketing plan.

For the PMI-ACP to overtake the PMP, it needs to be more valuable than the PMP. In the tech industry, I can see that happening, but I don't think we're as close in the other industries yet.

Or, will we see agile delivery becoming so ubiquitous that at some point there is not need for a distinct agile credential and the PMP will be the one credential to rule them all?

Kiron
I would love to see that.
