Hi, I am relatively new to MS Project. In the past I have used excel spreadsheets that I developed to create project plans etc. However in the new company that i work for we are using MS Project. So I have created a project plan and would like to create three calendars one for each resource - there are three resources. The first resource has a work day of 7.00, the second a work day of 6.3 hrs and the third 7.3 hrs. I have tried to create three separate base calendars however each time i change the hours for one calendar all the other two take the changes made to the other calendar. How can i create three calendars with three separate work hours. Saving Changes...

Anon, I think that as you learn Project you may find that there may be other ways to handle this than creating separate calendars, but let's stick with your question for now while you come to grips with the application. Assuming that you are using 2003 the way to do it is 1) Select Tools, Change Working Time. 2) In the popup select New. 3) In the second popup put a name for the calendar - default is copy of standard, but naming for each resource might make more sense. Don't change the other options. 4) The first popup should now show Resource 2 calendar, highlight the working days by clicking on the M underneathe month and dragging across to the F. This highlights all the working days (assuming a 6 day work week). 5) In the right hand side of the popup click the Nondefault working time radio button and then change the working hours to what is correct for that resource. 6) Click OK. 7)Go to View, Resource Sheet. 8) Enter the resource name and then on the right side of the screen change the Base Calendar for that resource to the one you just created. Repeat that for the three resources and you are done. Don't forget, if you want to accurately track time you will need to put statutory holidays in, and this will need doing in each calendar. Feel free to get in touch with me if you want more details on anything, or to discuss some alternative approaches of achieving what you are trying to accomplish.
