Claim PDU - PMBOK 6 Version

Shall I claim a PDU on reading the PMBOK 6 version guide?

We don't read at the same speed that is a fact. What is also a fact is that the content is the same.

It would make sense that a specific book/chapters be associated to a suggested number of PDUs

In all seriousness, you can report it as accurately as you feel based on the guidelines in the CCR handbook. PMI will either approve or not. I don't see why not and certainly cannot hurt.

I believe the guideline for that, is if the version is newer than the one you certified under, then you can claim it.

I remember some online training followed this guideline.

I totally agree with Andrew - CCR Handbook is your best guide and if you have any questions, you can always email PMI Customer Service.

I agree with my colleagues, refer the handbook. I think you should be able to claim it.
