Just looking back at the previous PMXPOs I have attended and in 2011 there were 5,588 attendees, in 2012 there were 6,411 and in 2018 there were 35,664.

What should I read into this?

That is certainly a huge increase! Honestly, the marketing did not seem much different than in years past. I'd be very curious as to more insight into these numbers.

@ Andrew. If you click on the badge of PMXPO-2018 you will get the number of individuals who attended it.
The reason could be more number of individuals joining pm.com

The number is the number that have the badge. So if you not fully attend you don't get the badge.

I suspect it also include on-demande viewer .

More people are finding their way into Project Management. Looks at the number of certidied PMP's in 2012 and look at them now.

First PMXPO is easy to attend. Times make it more and more know. Local chapter offering might not be that interesting!
