When a similar project than mine has just been initiated by another sponsor taking off the real interest we initially had on it, how to manage to fully recover from this inconvenience.

It is the sponsor issue not your issue.
If your project is still valid you should carry on.
Or move on.

Hi Kevin, you're right that it is the sponsor issue but it is also my issue. Since the sponsor has finished to initiate the project, I feel that it is a challenge and an honor for me to do the impossible to achieve it.

I concur with Kevin on this.
The sponsor should make sure that the project’s goals are aligned with overall organization strategy, gather support from senior executives, and provides ongoing direction as the effort unfolds.

Hi Kevin, Anish I know that the project sponsor is an individual with overall accountability for the project but sometimes project managers need to "manage up" in order to bring their sponsor up to speed with relevant knowledge and skills.

Effectively Anish, you are so right but as Kevin said, I believe that in this case we must carry on and not move on.There is not on earth a problem without a solution, all depends how much we'll agree to suffer to take a deep dive to remain on the right track.
