I'm with you on this one - when I'm creating training or presentation decks, I have to reduce the typeface case of my credentials to get them all to fit on a line :-)
Every other credential I have (e.g. PSM II, CDAI) all are a single acronym without any hyphenation...
Perhaps PMI will permit the following optimization: PMI-[PMP,ACP,RMP]

Yeah it's mainly the titling on presentation, cards, social media etc that kind of stands out with the "PMI-" especially when you have a few of them. Saving Changes...
Dinah you are right, not too many people know what those certifications are but I am not sure this is the main reason because if they were introduced from the beginning as RMP & ACP, they would have been known as is just like the PMP. Why PMP is not written as PMI-PMP. What also makes me wonder if this is the main reason is because on your certificate, it is written like this: PMI Risk Management Professional, not Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) so the RMP comes also before the full name of the certificate amd I honestly have mixed feelings about this.
As per PMI Today, the current numbers for ACP & RMP are 19,600 & 4,500. ACP is getting very famous and the number will soon I believe rise significantly.
Sante, Kiron, I also agree with you as when I tried to make a presentation, I also have issues with so many letters but the main issue I have in my e-mail signature & business card. RMP is a very decent certificate so I had to give up showing another credential on my business card in order to put the 7 letters of the PMI-RMP. If it was RMP alone, that would have been much better and flexible. Maybe they will change it one day.
Even the PMI-SP I think should be changed to PSP - Project Scheduling Professional, but hey it's just an idea. At the end of the day people who are interested in the certification (ie, employers, colleagues) are going to know what it is anyway.

There is anothet certificate called PSP granted by another organization so they won’t be able to use the same name as far as I am aware.

With so many certifying organisations around the globe, I think "PMI-" is an excellent way to identify the credential source. PMP is already well know universally and hence will not require that identification. In my opinion, keeping the PMI- before the other credentials (ACP, PBA, RMP and SP) is warranted at this stage. CSM is still the largest Scrum Master certification around, by Scrum Alliance, so should they abbreviate their org name to SA, and then make their certification SA-CSM so the credential can be sourced? ;-) Saving Changes...
Interesting question, what would be the impact of changing a certification acronym? PMI is pushing for those acronym to gain visibility. Would it be wise tho change later?

It will be interesting to watch because as time goes by, there may be more disparity between the titles with "PMI" in it and not (ie. PMP, PgMP, PfMP, CAPM).
