Do you keep a little PM black book?

Notes about how you really think or feel? Stakeholder (secret) analysis)? Things you heard or saw that you want to keep a record of, just in case? Anything can go into a little black book...that you don't want others to read.

Lol, Sante, I have a small blue notebook, and it fits in my pocket, usually, I use pencil, so it fades with days. My daughter always laugh about it, and she calls it the secret book of Baba

I carry a small notebook with me to jot down notes and ideas and not just regarding PM. Once a week at least go through and update tasks to be done or various notebooks I keep of ideas.

Sante -

Yes, although mine is a OneNote journal. I usually start a new section for each project I'm supporting with pages for different categories of info.

I keep many such things within my head, but I do record things that wouldn't be disastrous if they were somehow read by others. For example, I mentally track stakeholder motivations, so I know how to manage them. One executive stakeholder of mine is a sycophant who fears making decisions. Knowing this, I often make my own decisions and inform him afterward. He is happy since he didn't have to make the decision, and I don't have to chase him for weeks trying to get a decision from him.

I know what you mean. You need to be careful where you leave that book.

Yes Eric I am pretty mush the same, having a virtual black book in the mind, along with another tangible one for stuff I need to look at (read as being reminded) but also keep private.

I use Evernote in my personal phone and tablet, so only myself have access to them. High level plans, Minutes, conversations. I even insert diagrams, pictures and mind maps. And I have stakeholders maps and plans too.
Everything is synced in the web, minimising risk of loosing them (I hope).

I hope Pedro your mobile devices aren't hooked to enterprise mobility. One can never know who is reading if your devices are connected to work through these platforms.

Hi Sante,
It can definitively happen. Likewise, someone may peep into someone's personal notebook. There will be privacy issues though.
Cheers

Never kept a notebook. But I do keep project plans and changes to it in my tab.
