I'm looking for literature on business re-engineering processes. Looking for something non-industry specific that would cover project initiation right through completion.

Anyone have ideas?

As a newbie to this whole topic - and feeling somewhat disoriented can anyone refer some good guides for the six sigma or the helix both of which have been referenced in here.

Hi David.
The best book I have found on Six Sigma is "The Six Sigma Way". You can get it at Amazon. Its an easy read. I would be happy to send you a copy of The Helix Factor with my compliments. Just email me your address. [email protected]

This thread is getting a bit long in the tooth, and runs the risk of turning into a distribution center for Michael's remainders. So despite my earlier contribution of suggestions about books by Eli Goldratt (The Goal, It's Not Luck, Necessary but Not Sufficient), here's a few more that I've recently read and that should apply...

Thoughtware, by J. Philip Kirby and David Hughes, 1997, Productivity Press. The subtitle of the book is a great summary -- "Change the thinking and the organization will change itself."

Deming and Goldratt -- The Theory of Constraints and the System of Profound Knowledge, by Domenico Lepore and Oded Cohen, 1999, North River Press. This is a great synthesis of TOC and Deming's most important contribution -- and it wasn't statistical process control.
