Ideally, “it” would allow group sharing and editing and also provide a reporting feature (export data into the most common formats - .doc, .xls, .pdf). I have used a number of online project management solutions, some for simple task management and some for more complex project management. A key to a good online task tracker is to identify what key metric you need to track, how you want to work with team members, and of course the cost of the solution. For very simple task tracking I liked Asana (https://asana.com) which offers a free level for up to 15 team members, and for a more complete project management solution I use teamwork (https://www.teamwork.com).
