Advice to give when job seekers ask for help? (especially for those needing a sponsor)

I've gotten a few messages from people on here, asking for advice with finding a PM related job in the U.S.

So far I've steered them towards looking at LinkedIn and Monster.com
https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/visa-sponsor-jobs/
https://www.monster.com/jobs/q-h1b-visa-sponsorship-jobs.aspx

Any other suggestions or tips on how to assist?

Any other thoughts on this? (Thanks!)

I'd recommend finding a buddy who is already in the US working within the industry and region you are targeting who is willing to review your cover letter and resume when applying for a role as they might be able to help you refine it.

I'd also recommend checking the job board for the PMI chapter in the region you wish to move to as they might have some roles which aren't posted on the big job sites like Monster or Dice...

Kiron,

Thanks, those are some good ideas.

I don't want to be _that_ helpful to review their cover letter and resume... But steering them to local chapter sites is definitely another resource I can mention when someone reaches out to me for advice.

I would suggest finding a local workforce agency (in the city where the candidate would like to work) that can assist with finding a job, perhaps on a contract basis to begin. Typically larger companies employ agencies to locate potential candidates for project management roles (as well as others) and it is a great way to find a position that may interest you.
