I am trying to develop a set of quantifiable promotion requirements for the Project Managers in my organization. Right now all we have is years of experience and percentages of increased complexity of work, it's really vague and subjective.

I would add:

Personal & Professional Development Progress: Project Managers who put time & effort to work on their personal professional development. It is a very objective measure in my opinion.

I would further add:

- Achievement of stretch goals (number, quality)
- Achievement of objectives aligned towards senior roles (number, quality)
- Trend of performance ratings in current role
- Peer feedback through a standardised 360-degree exercise

I agree with Rami Kaibni and Karan Shah.

So also, it is good to have that to see whther they shared any experiences thru Lessons Learned or did they teach directly ( not facilitating) to the team/s on thei r area of expertise etc which should be useful to the Organization.

- senior mangers that like you (ie. good interpersonal skills) since these are the ones promoting you.

Promotion to what role? Sr. level, Program Mgr?

Some criteria would include professional development, past accomplishments, desired career path, and how their actions represent themselves/team/program/organization.

Also, is the individual more of a tactical contributor, or initiating and contributing to strategic discussions to promote the direction of the PMO or other areas of potential needs within the organization.

I'd be looking for a combination of:

1. Profile of the projects managed to show a progressive trend towards greater complexity and scale
2. Planning & achievement of personal development objectives reflecting a commitment to the PM career path
3. Quantitative metrics from a representative sample of completed projects
4. Sponsor and team feedback on the "how"
