I am working for an IT organization as Team member. I have experience for about 7 years.
I don't have enough experience or PDUs to take PMP.
I am planning to take CAPM. I hope this is the correct way to go towards career in PM.
Usually how many years of experience one needs to work as Project Manager and would like to know how many years of total experience usually you people had when you took PMP.
I am just trying to see if I am too behind in my career and should have taken up Project Management roles by now and should have been promoted to PM.
And is it too late to take CAPM ?
Thanks for your inputs. Saving Changes...

I was hoping to get a direction from the seasoned PMs and the leaders community here around my earlier post.

I can't speak to the CAPM, but the PMP usually follows becoming a project manager; it does not lead to the career.
I would suggest working to become a team lead as your career path to becoming a project manager. Talk to your current boss, team lead, or project manager and express your interest. Most managers will welcome some additional support in doing the often tedious tasks associated with project management. This will give you the opportunity to try out some aspects of the profession without making a commitment and by the time you become a full fledged project manager, you should have enough experience hours to take the PMP.
