If we have 6 projects in progress it is necessary to have a PMO, since this type of offices brings multiple benefits to companies in the supervision of the management of their projects, however, with so few projects, it would be redundant and expensive? Saving Changes...

Not at all. You do not need to have a PMO. Saving Changes...
First question you ask : Are these projects dependents , interrelated ? Do they serve the long strategic plan of the firm? What value the PMO will add? Saving Changes...
They are projects where their point of union is the area of ??information technologies, basically they are independent and some have a duration of 4 years, one of them is to place a weld ship for a car assembler, it is not considered as a only project because of the involvement of private and government financial resources Saving Changes...
I would say a PMO is overkill for 6 projects. But then if they are really huge projects such as building a road across the USA, then sure. But for most sized projects, you will need a lot more than 6 projects to justify a PMO. Saving Changes...

I would recommend that the critical question you need to ask is:
Why do you need PMO?
1. Are there issues or challenges in projects that are common?
2. As mentioned by others, are there dependencies or do projects require collaboration between them?
3. What role do you want to play as a PMO? How will you add value to them?
4. If the Project Managers are having too many overheads in compliance, getting the resources, administration and PMO would like to support them, you can do it.
5. If the governance of the projects is not up to the mark and you want to enhance the governance, you can have the PMO.
6. If you would like to provide the development role, you can play that as well. For example, project teams need to be updated on their skill levels to execute the project better. You need to prepare them for taking up the next level roles. You need to prepare them for the next projects, etc, etc...
Once you decide the functions of your PMO, you need to look at the financial viability of it. Or, does the investment justify the value that you are going to deliver to the projects. Saving Changes...
