Not saying I would, but if everyone did that, we would have zero or very low unemployment. It could be a kind of internship to build someones skills or at least further their experience, and then they could move on when another job presented itself. This would be timeboxed for say 3-6 months and could be done once a decade and still have enough employees to give every job seeker a shot. For those that wouldn't want to ultimately lose the money, perhaps a deal could be made that once they get a job, they give 10% or the equivalent back to you. Saving Changes...
I would. Very Interesting thought there Sante !, acquiring new skill sets no doubt becomes easier, then what we will have is a population that is strategical placed to meet job demands.

Ephraim, it would be a good thing to see. It's also probably the best way to develop skills.
Meade, that's nice to see :-)
Drake, that's a little different but the principle is similar. Glad to see so many kept their jobs.
Kiron, yes inside a company which would facilitate better knowledge sharing and skill building.

If giving up 10% of my salary would ensure everyone that wants to work has a job - I wouldn't think twice about it and give 10% smiling. Saving Changes...
Drake SettsuProject Manager / BloggerHi, United States
Many years ago the company I worked for was planning layoffs and the managers had to have their teams vote to take a 10% pay cut to save jobs or keep your current pay and cut some staff. The team I was on selected pay cut with only one person selecting keep my pay. No one lost their job and the whole team took a 10% pay cut. For the record I selected 10% pay cut.
One year later we received a 10% pay increase. Saving Changes...

I like the concept and I had done this in the past, but my experience was not so good. The person who was hired never showed any commitment after getting the job, and was ultimately laid off.

Dinah, Vincent, Kevin, that's great. I am surprised to be honest so many actually would support this idea :-)

It is a very nice thought - If there is a structured program and I know fair opportunities are being given without any bias, yes, I would sacrifice 10%.
