Hi All,
I am an IT Project manager with 3 years of experience as a PM. I am also a certified PMP. I have 2 possible opportunities coming my way:
1. Contract Business Analyst.
2. Fulltime Manager in Engineering (non IT) in the aerospace sector.
I am having difficulty in making up my mind about what to pick. Could anyone shed some light on what are the career paths for either of these? Pros-Cons, future outlook etc. I also am worried about the work pressure due to a family situation. So any insights there would be greatly appreciated as well.
Thanks

I would go with the employment in the Aerospace sector purely on a job security basis. Aerospace is closely linked with Defense and the government willalwyas fund the Defense Department.

It depends on what you want. The manager may be more suited to you if positional responsibility is your end game. Contract BAs can be very lucrative if you are qualified.

I know many Health Care BAs who work on contract. They appear to do well.

The one benefit of a contract position, I've found, is that it is no nonsense. There is no performance reviews, you are responsible for own development and they expect you to be the creme. Most often I'll get the opportunities for the largest, high-value projects.

There are risks of course.
